2024.4.2 NEWS RELEASE

GIKEN LTD. (Head Office: Kochi-shi; President and CEO: Atsushi Ohira) was selected as a FY2023 Nadeshiko Brand*1, a designation given to Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) listed companies with outstanding initiatives to promote women's active participation in the workplace. In addition, GIKEN was also selected as a Noteworthy Enterprise that has implemented distinctive measures to promote women’s active participation in the workplace for its efforts to promote male employees taking childcare leave*2. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and TSE jointly select Nadeshiko Brands each year, with this year marking the 12th round. This fiscal year, 27 companies were selected from among the approximately 3,900 enterprises listed on all TSE sections. Only two companies were chosen from the machinery industry, and 10 companies were chosen as Noteworthy Enterprises.

We believe that maximising the abilities of diverse human resources and co-creating new value leads to sustainable corporate growth. As part of these efforts, we focus on developing female managers and utilising female human resources. In April 2018, we established a cross-divisional organisation called “Positive Action (Promotion of Women's Active Participation) Project” led by female employees. One of the basic policies of the project is to create a workplace where all employees, including women, can work comfortably. Participating members work together with management to tackle various management issues, such as promoting male employees to take childcare leave as well as health & productivity management. Through these activities, we aim to have employees acquire skills directly related to management, such as communication skills, thinking from a broad perspective, and optimal use of management resources, thus improving our overall organisational capabilities.

GIKEN considers employees to be irreplaceable assets. We have placed great importance on respecting employee individuality in our pursuit of employee happiness. We will continue to improve our workplace environment and foster a corporate culture in which all employees, regardless of their gender, age, nationality, culture, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity, can accept each other and play an active role in their own way.
