SILENT PILER™ and GRB System™ Supplied to Equipment Procurement Project (ODA Project) in Myanmar

As part of an arterial road development project led by the Myanmar government, the people in charge considered using continuous steel sheet pile walls as a method to reinforce roads damaged by frequent heavy rains. They chose SILENT PILER™ machines for their ability to meet three conditions in particular:

(1) able to place piles in hard ground and rock layers, (2) able to work in tight spaces without requiring traffic controls, and (3) able to operate safely without impacting the surrounding environment.

Disaster Restoration Work for Roads in Chin State, Myanmar

Roads in Myanmar’s Chin State were badly damaged by torrential rains in July 2015.
With collapse of the sloping ground beside the roads being particularly serious, they had been able to maintain road width through the temporary measure of cutting away the higher ground and slopes to lower and flatten the ground surface. However, since it was difficult to maintain two-way traffic in some areas, it was decided to carry out this new construction.

Because of the hard ground at the construction site, which included rock layers, the SILENT PILER™ F111 was used for construction because of its ability to place piles in hard ground. Also, because construction would be done on the only residential roads available to local residents, the GRB System™ was used because it does not require temporary works and it met other requirements to a high degree, including the ability to work without requiring traffic controls, the ability to operate safely without any risk of the machine tipping over, and to have minimal impact on the environment. Other construction methods used for separate disaster restoration work nearby had often required long periods of traffic controls. However, the GRB System received praise from local residents who were impressed by the streamlined, stress-free construction that did not disrupt the traffic.
