Park24’s new building, currently under construction in the Nishi-Gotanda area of Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, is to be the site of two “ECO Park” parking facilities. Construction has begun for the facilities, manufactured and sold by GIKEN LTD. (CEO: Akio Kitamura), as of July. They will serve as underground parking for the new building.
Park24 is Japan’s largest operator of parking facilities, and selected Giken’s “ECO Park” product not only for its space-saving and high-capacity design, but also for its rapid delivery of stored vehicles, and strong safety measures. With this, the “ECO Park” was deemed capable of fulfilling Park24’s vision of “a harmony of people and cars”.
Giken’s “ECO Park”, an underground parking facility exemplifying the Giken design vision of “Culture Aboveground, Function Underground”, is to provide underground parking facilities directly below the new building. This will allow for use of hourly parking, car rental, and even hot-button car-sharing services – all in one facility.
“ECO Park” units built directly underneath a building are poised to offer a unique advantage in the ever-growing area of redevelopment. This particular design will serve as a blueprint as more developers notice and adopt Giken’s one-of-a-kind technology, both in Japan and abroad.
