GIKEN and Carlson Group concluded collaboration agreement for expansion of Implant Method

2019.7.22 NEWS RELEASE

Giken Ltd. (Head Office: Kochi, Japan President and CEO: Akio Kitamura), as part of its global business expansion acceleration plan, entered into a business collaboration agreement with the Carlson Construction Group Inc.(Carlson Group) from Vancouver, Canada, on 20th of June 2019. Giken Ltd is accelerating its collaboration with engineering design and construction groups globally to effect its long term goal of achieving 70% of total group sales overseas.

Carlson Group is one of the leading construction companies in British Columbia, headquartered in Vancouver. It has 30-year history as a prime contractor (Brymark Installation Group), a 40-year history as a pipe processing company (Corwest Fabrications), and a civil engineering company was founded in 1913 (Vancouver Pile Driving: joined the Carlson Group in 1996). Carlson is involved in a wide range of civil engineering works, marine civil engineering works and foundation work for bridges, tunnels and highways.

Canada, as with many developed nations, is facing the challenge of finding innovative construction methods to meet the increasing demand for public and private infrastructure. Increasing population and economic activity requires urban renewal now actively developed using the PPP model.

This structure of linking private-sector expertise and innovation with capital investment in public infrastructure projects promotes the use of a “Total Package” approach where engineering, procurement, construction management and maintenance is employed for the most efficient project delivery. The Canadian federal government has announced plans to invest C$186 bn in new infrastructure projects from 2,017 to 2,028 to stimulate the economy and urban renewal.

Carlson Group approached Giken and it was immediately evident both groups share a vision for innovation in providing solutions for future engineering challenges in our markets. Giken and Carlson Group will collaborate actively to bring Press-In Technology and Implant Construction methodologies to the Canadian Market.
